I collected 11 before I had to leave for work. I got a surprise when I collected them. Jersey Gena looks like she is going broody. She didn’t fight me for the eggs so I don’t think she is completely committed yet but she’s definitely showing signs. I guess when I get home early tomorrow morning...
Only 9 today. It is possible that some of the girls laid in the yard and I haven’t found them. Today was coop clean out day so the nesting boxes were out of service for a while. My EE Marshmallow was really upset with me when she came looking for her nesting box.
We sell a few to coworkers, give some to family, and cook some egg heavy meals as well. My wife is planning to scramble 3-4 dozen this weekend to make a large batch of breakfast burritos for the freezer. Then the kids can pop them in the microwave before school in the mornings.
We are planning...
13 eggs today. We currently have about 11 dozen on hand. We need to cook up some eggs I guess. I saved back a couple of the colorful ones for the incubator.
Right at a dozen today and they are getting bigger in size. The Marans are sill only laying about 2 a week and still small to medium in size but everybody else looks to be near full production.
It’s an iPhone app called FlockPlenty it keeps track of your flock and egg production. It can also track sales if you buy the paid version but I don’t sell enough to bother with that part
11 today. One of the Marans paid up. They do lay pretty eggs but they don’t produce the quantities that the other girls do.
Edit 2 more just came in. New daily best 13 eggs from 15 girls
9 today one looks like a double yolk. I noticed you that one of the nest boxes is full of little black feathers. I didn’t get a chance to check for bare bellies but I think Gena the Jersey Giant is getting some ideas going through her little bird brain.
