Went down this morning to feed the horse and let the chickens out and found a banded egg under the roost bar. It’s been a while since I got one of those.
And this evening..3 more, one of which had a flat side that was thin shelled. I expected it after seeing the banded egg.
There were 5 eggs this morning, but one had broken in the nest. Then a second one broke in my hand when I was washing off the egg goo.
Even though they have containers of eggshells and oyster shells available, the eggs are getting fragile. I mixed crushed eggshells into scrambled eggs to give them a calcium boost.
I'm fairly certain that the smaller egg on the right is from Hannah. She might be feeling broody, as she was sitting in a nesting box she squawked loudly at me...as I tried to check under her.
