Here is what we had to do to get our girls to lay in the nest box. First thing was to remove the nesting pad. Our girls didn't like them. We put pine shavings in their nest boxes and added a lip, a strip of thin wood about 2 inches high across the front of the nest box to prevent the girls from accidentally kicking out the pine shavings. Lastly, we added curtains to the front to give them some privacy or at least the feeling of privacy. Not much privacy with the rest of the flock being nosy and sticking their heads in.Now I need to read up on how to encourage her to lay in the boxes instead of outside in the middle of the run!
iv got 57 eggs in the last nine days there laying machines.
