I am starting this thread for those who breed, show, or are just interested in Exhibition Red bantams. Also to discuss breeding, show prep, and genetics. I will start off by posting some pictures.
How big of a pen would I need for 6-10 turkeys? Also what age would be okay for processing extra Toms? The varieties I'm looking into getting are Black and Black Mottled. Last question how many hens can I have for One tom and still get fertile eggs?
thanks,
Corey
I had a broody hen that was setting on eggs and I forget that she was sitting on eggs (fair week) and yesterday I was throwing out the eggs because she had been sitting on them for to long. I picked up an egg and it started to peep. I ran inside and started to slowly and carefully chip the egg...
How old can you put chicks outside? Could they live outside in april when they are like 10 weeks or a little bit less without getting sick they would be in an enclosed wooden pen with an attached run.
thanks,
Corey
I was tossing out eggs that didn't hatch and I was cracking them open to see if they were fertile, and the one when I cracked it open I saw blood and there was a chick in there. When I was incubating them I needed to turn it up a little and I felt like when I turned it that it didn't turn so...
Just wanted to start a thread to post pictures and discuss our birds. I have a small flock of 1 roo and 4 pullets from Jerry Powell. Hoping to get some Gary Underwood birds in Febuary.
Corey
I have a young wyandotte roo he has nice type and okay size but has bad lacing? Another problem is he has a pullet in with him and I have never seen him mount her. I have also put a older hen in with him more than once he doesent breed with them he would just fight them. I know they have to...
Has anyone ever gotten any wyandotte bantams from eagle nest? If so what is their quality? Would they do well in a small county fair also could you post pics of the birds.
thanks, Corey
I'm doing cuckoo wyandotte bantams I'm crossing a black cock to a white hen. whites have a barring gene. Then next ur using cukoo hens i'm crossing them to a partridge roo the n crossing the those hens back to the partridge roo to have golden crele.
Whats ur thoughts on adding a young pair to a older trio? Older trio rooster is nice and has never attacked me. If I pick him up and hold him long enough he will sometimes fall asleep in my arms. I dont think it will be a problem the young rooster is only 4 months old.
I'm building a 8ftx14ft coop I need 2 ft for storage and 3 more pens for my 3 breeds. Do you think 4ft per pen would be enough for 3-5 bantams plus they will have a huge run and space for nests, roost, feeder, and waterer. The breeds are Wyandotte, Barred Rocks, and Americaunas.
thanks...
