    14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

I'm not sure. The guy I got the eggs from said Jersey Giant, but they could be a mix. The little black one is getting white spots on her back feathers - it almost looks like when my SLW feathers started getting their white.

I interrupted their sunbathing. Second and third photos I think are cockerels. I'd put money on the second. The big kids are three weeks older and still picking on them a little bit, but Lindsey (second photo) is starting to peck to back.

The chick with the missing toe has been dubbed "Chosen One" and has two very enthusiastic cheerleaders. Woke up this morning to see her standing on her own! Number 3 broke out last night, and the last little chick is currently working on zipping. Woo!!

Two out of 4 have hatched. The first one to hatch has me a bit worried though. It is also missing a toe.

The first few times I've seen them wiggle, I yelled at the kids to quit running in the house! Most of the time it's so short and small movements I think my eyes are playing tricks, so you may just be missing it.

    14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Yeah, I'm currently camped out in the same room as the incubator. My daughter wanted to see the beak and movement so I snuck one out to candle, and it cheeped at us! Started tapping at the shell too, so that was fantastic for her to see. And I'd swear I just heard chirping from across the room...

I just wanted to add. I think my incubator was running a touch warmer than I thought. I had purchased extra thermometers when I got the incubator, then realized they can't be calibrated. After I lost 12. So at that point, I figured as long as there were veins and movement, it wasn't too messed...

    14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

I have no idea! These are from my neighbor' father-in-law's friend. I'm assuming he has a mixed flock, and so these are barnyard mixes. Two of the eggs look like what my cinnamon queen lays. 1 is a bit more brown. And one is speckled. They are all about the same size - largish.

Two out of four have started rocking around this evening! Shining my light in, I can see movement against the air cell, so lockdown is officially begun!

    14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

I'm quite late to the party, but I had first seen this right after setting my last batch of eggs. I had set 16 eggs on March 17. Candled on March 24, 12 eggs never developed. So I have 4 due to hatch April 8. Though I do have a question about that - when I candled them, they looked closer to...
