My "baby" Lucky died last week. I raised him from 1 day old, he would have been six years old this coming July.
He contracted the dreaded Wet Avian Pox in December. His body took a beating but he was hanging in there. It was hard for him to eat and he lost a lot of weight. I was having him...
Just moved to Ocala last month. My rooster Lucky is sick with Wet Avian Pox. Vet pulled out growths and his throat is better. Problem is he won't eat and is losing weight. I had him tube fed at the vet 4 times. He picks at food with beak but won't open his mouth. He's going to die if he doesn't...
Not sure if this is the place to put this but I am looking to move to TN from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Lots of reasons to move, but I'll save those for later. I'm looking to rent a small house in the Smithville area, a friend of mine lives in Smithville. I will bringing my rooster Lucky and HIS...
Hi, my friend has family in Alabama, forget the city right now. So I wouldn't rule it out. Also have a friend in Smithville, TN, so I'm also looking into that.
Looks like a whole chicken city! Wish I had alot of land. I couldn't sell chickens, I get too attached to them. I actually find roosters to be more interesting then hens but they can be a handful. Even my Lucky was not always a cuddly roo, and I've got the scars to prove it. He was very angry...
Wow, beautiful. I never heard of a Rhode Island White, only red. Are those all your chickens in the backround? My Lucky wouldn't make it into a show, he has pretty much permanent bumblefoot. Though, we did make it into a Chicken Rescue calendar once.
Actually I need something economical around $650, but may be alittle more. I had a bite in Lakeland but the place was too big, 3/2 for $950.
I may have to do what I'm doing now, that is have my chickens at a place and I go visit them twice a day. And then just get an apartment nearby. Only...
Thanks, I will try those sites. I was just on Trulia.com, not much there. Plus it's hard to tell from photos of houses, if it is on some land or if the next house is 5 feet away from it. Don't think close neighbors would appreciate a rooster.
Thanks again.
Hi, I'm off subject but I'm looking to move from Fort Lauderdale up to north/northwest FL where I can have my rooster and a few hens.
I'm looking to rent a small house or manufactured home with some land for the animals.
I have ads on Craigslist but they don't seem to be getting me anywhere...

Finally, a good photo of Lucy up close at about 5 weeks. I compared her photo to a rooster and another hen at that age and I'm pretty sure Lucy will stay a Lucy and not a Louie!
Thanks, will do. I actually think roosters are more interesting than hens, but hens are easier to fit into the scheme of things.
So I guess I'm hoping for a hen, course I already named the chick Lucy.
Lucky my rooster, finally became a Daddy after 4 years. Chick is about 2 weeks old now.
I've heard there is a way to tell by the feathers if it will be a hen or a rooster. I've compared photos of chickens I have raised in the past. And I can't make any kind of connection.
Photo enclosed...
Let a vet do it, it doesn't cost that much to not see your rooster in pain.
Also after my Lucky had his foot done, he had to be inside the house for a week to 10 days and we gave him antibiotics I believe.
If you cut that out and put him back outside right away even with vet wrap, you are...
My rooster LUCKY has had a dry comb on and off for months and I live in FL, land of humidity. I tried Coconut oil on his comb last night. Today, it looked even worse. I've tried Emu Oil, Olive Oil, Healx Soother Plus and Vaginal Antifungal creme. His comb starts to look better for a day or two...
WANT TO MAKE MOVE FROM FLORIDA TO TENNESSEE WITH MY ROOSTER LUCKY AND HIS GIRLFRIEND SOPHIE.
Not sure where to put this post on this site, but this looks like a good place:
Looking for small "farmy"-type house/small cottage to rent in the Murfreesboro area that has pretty private land for a...
