It's all very well to tell us that they are great, but what makes them great??????????
Laying, brooding, eating, temperament, etc etc..I would like to know more about how many eggs they lay and are they good brooders??
Thanks
All it takes is some searching and reading on ll the threads on this site and you won't have to ask questions like this. Some people have gone to a lot of trouble to get information up for you and I, it's just a matter of find it.
Is there a reason all you people use light bulbs for heating?
Just seems a little bizarre and doesn't make sense to me.
No wonder they get confused as to what the difference is between night and day!!
What a great thread. Thank you!
Just a question. I have some Bantam Saxony Duck eggs I've just placed in my incubator.
Do you think there is much difference to your geese thread to my eggs. Will it be ok for me to go by this you think?
What I meant by my post was that they don't need supplements or extra doses. It can actually be harmful than good.
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) can be found in just about everything they eat (what I feed my ducklings and adults).: Leaf vegetables, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, asparagus, whole grain...
This is taken from a post. I can't find the original thread, but I have it for my own reference so I'll repost for your own reference. It's the best I've seen...
Whenever feeding a duck anything, make sure they have access to water for drinking, so they do not choke.---
I put *stars*...
Yeah, I think it may be a case of "it's not what you know but who you know." as well.
I started a worm farm a few months ago and with the circumstances at the moment, I don't always have food/scraps for them, so would be great to have some for them.
May I make a suggestion. Not sure it it would work as I don't have an ant problem with the duck feed, but have used the technique with other animal feed.
Instead of turning the one upside down, have it right way up and fill it with water. This way, your ducks can use the water to wash feed down...
Yes, fresh water as much as possible is a healthier for them. I can get away with changing mine every second day with just my pair.
At the moment I'm designing a pond/bath for my new ducklings which will be able to drain the water away. Will take longer, but will be a much cleaner way.
Good luck
Is it such a big effort to give them a separate water bowl? Pond is for swimming, other bowl/basin for drinking. It's not hard. Just give them fresh when you feed them. Easy peazy
Is there anyone out there who has or knows of anyone who has any Bantam Saxony in Western Australia?
I'm searching for breeders or just anyone who owns any in Western Australia ONLY.
Would love to hear from you.
