Well this is more than just today but I haven't done an update in a while, My rooster died a week ago today, I have no idea what happened or what he died from, I was having my morning coffee outside just watching them, the rooster had been acting funny for a couple of days when all of a sudden...
Yesterday, Monday 06-05, I had the height of the run raised to six foot and a new top put on, now I can stan up straight when I go inside, it sure is nice too. : )
I feed mine flock raiser pellets from a hanging feeder that has the sections all the way around. I was also getting a lot of waste from crumbles in a plain hanging feeder. I never see wasted food on the ground anymore.
This past Wednesday we went and picked our two new pullets, a Partridge Rock and a Rhode Island Blue, both are 14 weeks old. I got them from the same place I got them from last year and they looked excellent and both fit right in with last years girls with no problems. Been going out every...
Hi everyone, just thought I would share the luck I've had these last three days with my chickens. My buff orpington started going broody a couple of weeks ago, I really wasn't ready for that to happen but it did. I tried the cold water bath a couple of times and it didn't work, put her in...

I got them well fed and watered up good and gave them some time out in the yard, the cold front is supposed to be here sometime in the night tonight so they should be good and comfy and ready for tomorrow. : )
I just used water and nothing else, I only got the plastic ones to use while it is freezing. easier to bring in and defrost, fill up, and take back outside than the 3 and 5 gallon metal ones.
Well everything worked out today with the two waterers just as I hoped it would, I rotated them out every two to two and a half hours and they had good water all day. I just brought the one I took out of their coop and brought it inside and ran a little water around it and the base screwed right...
Winter hit with a bang here today, in advance I went to Tractor Supply a couple of days ago and got two five quart plastic waterers that are kinda bell shaped instead of the jar shaped ones you see in most feed stores, I figured they would be easy to thaw, got extra scratch and cracked corn to...
