My project chicks

Pics
1 week old today theres 7 chicks but must of missed one. I have one that since it hatches has had a watery eye that just will not go away not sure if dust from the bedding keeps getting in it or if its a defect as i also have a splash with crooked toes on one foot, both will be culled at 5-8 weeks anyways as ones a splash and the other has a single comb so dont want either. Seems the bodies grew but not the feathers. These are gonna be very slow feathering

I switched hens around so rooster is with the two rose comb hens only and the better looking speckled sussux hen so when they resume laying it will only be those three for now to see if hes even split mottled as with a ss half would be mottled half would be split

Besides the splashes all of the others look like pullets

I dont want splashes
Do you want blues?
Because if you have good blacks, it might be worth keeping one or two splashes to cross with them to get more blues.

It could also make sense to keep a splash bird if it had some particular trait (like comb type) that you couldn't find in the other colors you currently have, but it sounds like that is not the case for these ones.

But if they aren't useful for your breeding project, and you don't find them attractive, then I definitely agree that culling them makes sense.

I can't even hatch any blacks its seems from two blues and with splash you can't tell if its mottled so no need to keep them. And I personally just dont care for splashed birds
