15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Pics
My husband said I cannot buy more livestock, unless it is lambs from the auction. So I will not be hatching quail for Easter, but I will be hatching them after my current quail chicks start laying.

So instead I will set 42 Lavender Ameracauna eggs. Hopefully they all hatch. I have 4 people on the waiting list so far that want chicks for Easter.

The first time I ever saw a fresh hatched chick, I really thought the poor thing was dead! They still look pretty awful when the finish unzipping their egg - all bedraggled and wet. But, then they dry off, feel rested, and look so darned cute I could just squeal.

Hello!!! The stars have aligned and I am able to join the Hatch along this year!!
:wee
I found a reputable small farm breeder with fertile BBS Marans and Swedish Flower Hen eggs. I pick them up March 9– how lucky is that!?!?!

Time to invest in a better candler for dark eggs. 😊
I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here!!

My original order got scratched....but it turned into a good thing. I found a local woman on the Ameraucana Breeders Directory with BBS Wheatens, I'll be picking them up friday the 8th, and have 6 Isabel Ameraucana and 6 Self-Blue Ameraucana eggs shipping on the 5th. I am tickled pink!
Oh Isabel Ameraucana! I can't wait to see them!

Well, at some point you’ll be on the hatching end of one of these threads, I’m sure 👍🏻
well I think I can join this one. But excited since I just found out one set of eggs (the ones I am testing fertility) will be shipped next Tue or Wed so I should have them Thurs or Fri so I can set those while I wait for the others!! They should hatch about a week apart.
