I grew Long Island Cheese pumpkins this year. They aren't huge but are known for pie making. The reason you may want to grow them is they are very resistant to vine borers. They have a solid stem unlike other pumpkins so they won't die just as the plant is getting nice and big unlike the regular...
I just measure my garden out, then scale it down as best as I can. Fill in the each area with the plants you intend to grow. It gives you a great idea of how many tomatoes can technically fit into a twenty foot bed etc. remember to make notes for succession planting. Mine is not a perfect plan...
I totally understand that! I've done both ways for journals. I did find one I liked that I could do my garden sketch in also. I've also used something you are going to use and it worked just as well! Hope you have a great gardening year!
There are some really good garden journals out there you could utilize if you haven't gotten one yet. Nice to write what day you planted what and when you harvested etc
I freeze chard because it freezes well for soups etc. I also take all my greens and dehydrate them then blend them to a powder for extra nutrition in smoothies or add in soup..
