Funny article!
There is an objection to using diatomaceous earth since it can cause serious lung issues in chickens and more importantly, people.
Please check before considering using this product.

Excellent pictures of the best budget small flock starting brooder. Newer versions feature options such as a heating pad instead of a light, but overall the rest is about the same.

An interesting intro into clostridium. Unfortunately I don't feel there's enough emphasis on how devastating c. Dif can be to certain humans that may pick it up. Also the home remedies listed have no scientific references! This is not acceptable if they are going to introduced as an option, even with the disclosure of not being a professional.

Well there’s a reason there aren’t scientific references to the home remedies, it’s the very reason I called them “home remedies” and said that they “may” help, not that they would.

Medical Definition of home remedy
: a simply prepared medication or tonic often of unproven effectiveness administered without prescription or professional supervision

Quite a build! I'm glad you shared your oops moments, those can sometimes be as valuable as how to do something right.

Great job using recycled materials! Looks like a nice simple plan and layout. Some dimensions and more detail on how you put it together would be helpful for someone wanting to build it.

Great idea! I think a lot of places will do just fine with an open-air coop like this, no need for a complicated building.
Would be a good thing to know some dimensions and how/why you decided on your layout.

Shed conversions are a great idea for starting out. Thanks for sharing this option.
Since you did make changes it would've been nice to know how you came about your plans to change it, what you did and how you did it and what you would have done differently.

Good job with the pictures, descriptions and plans. A little awkward with three pages, I never did find "lessons learned".
This does look like an amazingly sturdy structure.

Five stars because
1. provided thoughtful insights into what you wanted, why, and what you chose (and didn't).
2. Provided excellent pictures and descriptions of dimensions and sizes, I didn't feel that a plan drawing was necessary with the good shots that you gave.
3. Did a good job on your follow up with likes / dislikes.

I'm not a great DYI'r, that felt like I could almost tackle this one myself.

Well done coop, looks good for any climate!
The detailed plans are appreciated, as well as all the pictures. Interesting how you incorporated found materials, especially the window with bottom hinge.
If I had the capacity I feel I could make this coop.

It's some nice work that went into this coop. Although you didn't have plans, there was a good idea of scale. Thanks for using recycled materials.
I'm sure your chickens are very happy!

The last section was much appreciated.
A design layout would have been helpful.
