I have a corturnix and an A&M left. ..today I had a small dark brown egg???? Several speckled eggs lg and sm... a few very lg quail eggs, some without an outer shell at all... thought????
Baby chick was over 24hrs trying to get out. DH got worried while I was on my hr commute. ..so he helped it. Its laying there with its legs running but doesn't try to get up. Moves its head but looks like it is featherless. :( can I do anything????
Ok my 1st set were quick hatchers. This is my 2nd now day 18. I have had one pipping for a few hrs now. How long before I need to worry. I swear my 1st hatch zipped and popped right out!!!
Thanks for all the advice. Even though we lost a few the 2 we have are doing well. The injured one started. To lay today!!!! She had 2 others but they didnt have a shell?? But today a nice sized greenish one. She is loving her yogurt straight up. Tried mixing it with food - not interested...
So as I previously posted my A&M female was attacked by my male Corturnix...he attacked the other A&M and she suffered terribly. This one is alive, eating and drinking well. She was scalped very deeply and lost an eye. It appears to be just a socket right now. Today she is scratching away...
Found another A&M attacked. Looks like it was scalped and eyw damaged. My husband found our 1st hatchling Sheldon chasing the poor bird. I am soooo sad. Here I thought it was the A&Ms killing each other...but it was our 1st corturnix... I never should have added the 4 to this couple. A week...
I posted before I added 4 texas a&ms to my male and female coturnix. Discovered 2 were male and terrorizing my female cortunix. Scalped her, picking on the male cortunix so we removed the 2 male a&ms. Today I go to refill water and food to find bloodshed...the 2 a&ms had blood all over them...
So I have watched the 2 coturnix mate and she lays almost daily. My 7 week old texas a&ms only one is laying. I've seen no mating from them at all. My male coturnix doesn't even go near them. So today I noticed a second a&m crow. So I guess that leaves one unknown. ..but not laying or...
So I added my texas a&ms in with the 2 coturnix I have. They are a pair that hatched together and follow each other all around the pen. Luckily he hasn't driven her crazy while waiting for the 4 A&Ms to mature. So the coturnix laid exactly at 6weeks. I have one A&M laying. They are...
Came home to find my 2 7 wk coturnix with their mouths open and beak/neck quivering. They are walking about, I watched them drink water but worried. Its the first real hot day hi 80's after a week of 50's and raining...are they too hot???
Woke up to loud chirping. Thought it was strange for them to be so loud. Then I hear my 10yo come running "three are missing". Nothing like a wake up call to 3 of the Texas A&Ms out of the tote...cover intact no idea how thw buggers got loose!!! Fun searching...and then cleaning the floors...
I thought I asked this but can't find my thread...
Can I combine my coturnix with the Texas A&Ms?
It seems my 2 coturnix which are 4 wks old are male and female. They are great together but am fearful as they are ready to breed being the only ones together
They are 2 weeks old already!!! Feathers filling in. They come over when I talk softly to them ;) I was even able to pet one today. So nice compared to the usual freaking out when I change the water.
I am excited to find some about 30minutes from me!!! Pics they posted had one with some black on a wing?? Does this mean they might not be pure bred? They have chicks and hatching eggs available so want to be sure.
