Speckled Sussex - four months old - gender help?

I got these babies straight run from MPC - I'm thinking that I've got four boys and four girls but I'm hoping that you guys can tell me that I've got more girls than that. *laugh* Also, how long does it generally take for these guys to start crowing? I'm letting the boys grow until they crow, then they're going to be up for freezer camp. I've never processed my own birds before but am looking forward to learning how (which reminds me...if there's anyone in the Milwaukee area interested in coming over to coach a rookie...it would be MUCH appreciated). I've banded them with zip ties and pony beads, so they're each color coded. Let me know if more pictures would be appreciated. Thanks guys!!

I believe you are correct in thinking 4 & 4, I see 4 girls and 4 boys also.

I can't tell with enough certainty that I'd process any of them based on these photos. I think it would help if they were standing for a side shot and then a view of the back between the wings.

From what I've seen, comb and wattle size on this breed is as variable as their spots. Some of the girls even have a hint of curl to their tails. For this reason, I'd go by crowing or pointed saddles/hackles only. This is my Speckled Sussex PULLET at around 4 months of age (she's 7 months now and definitely a girl!):

Looks like you could be right, but then again I held back a Silver Sussex Roo so I would have a back up......HMMMM guess what? a hen not a Roo. So if it were me I would wait til they started crowing .

I didn't notice that either.

So red, orange, yellow and pink are pullets, and green, blue, purple and white are cockerels.
