I try to name mine by personality but sometimes I just don't feel like certain names are good enough for them. Most of mine are named but I'm still trying to decide on others. I've got a little bantam named Pip ( Pipsqueak), buff orpingtons Rosie and Belina, a jersey giant named Poppy, a leghorn named Sugar ( I sing to her "sugar pie honey bums"),sex links Calyope, kitty, bunny and peach, Beans (Roo) is the product of Pip and one of my sex links cause he hasn't stopped jumping around since he popped out of his shell in the incubator, Oliver is my lavender Orpington roo and I've got 2 black Orpington roos to name and 2 Peking ducks that I still haven't named ( although I call them shits and giggles a lot)

Oliver and the other 2 black orpies will need to be rehomed 🙁 I got them so Beans wast by himself and all 4 turned out to be roosters🤦

It is extremely rewarding to name your chickens, transforming them from just egg-laying machines to house pets.

Despite the fact that there is no shortage of human names, you might want to give your chickens a more creative name. As with people, each chicken has their own unique personality. Chickens also have fine memories. Whenever you call out their names, they will come running, particularly if it is because food is in sight.

So we would like to find out: How do you name your pet chickens?

Place your vote above, and please elaborate in a reply below if you chose "Other". And feel free to share your chickens' names with us as well.

I ended up with two roosters out of my last batch. One just didn’t earn a name so I called him No Name. N N. After 6 weeks, N N has become M&M. So meet M&M. Little bit older photo.

Some of my silkies I've had are Independence, Justice, Freedom, Liberty, and Hope. A little girl named one Shadow, which is just cute!

A few are named after historical characters. Do you recognize John and Abigail Adams, Betsy Ross, or Malala?

A lot are named after book characters. You might recognize Faline, Anidori-Kiladra, Lucy Pevency (haven't named one this yet, but I plan to), or Stellaloona?

My pigeons are named after the famous war pigeons Cher Ami and Commando!

All my chickens have names :) we let the kids each name one with each set we get and I name the rest. Because I spend more time with them even when they aren’t cute tiny chicks and we would end up with all Disney Characters lol
We have Silkies named Luke, Nala, Dixie, Wonder, Elsa, Rapunzel, Leo, Milo (although I’ll probably rename Stitch cuz he’s crazy!), and Gizmo.
RIR is Reba. Blue Australorps are Stella and Stormy. Speckled Sussex is Meg. Olive Egger is Coda. Two Buff Orphingtons named Anna and Flynn Ryder although she’s a pullet (4 year old insisted). 🤣

Oh and my Muscovies are Lucky Boy, Drake, Betsy, Snow White and the 7 dwarfs 🤣🤣🤣 7 of them are all black and impossible to tell apart so the 7 dwarfs they are and Drake is often called something more vulgar. He doesn’t like to share.

It says if i choose "Other" i have to elaborate in comments. So I am.
I name all my poultry, even if i plan to sell them. I name them whatever name first comes to mind when i either buy them or when they hatch.
If it's a rooster that was "accidentally kept" then I'll name it according to its looks. (I.E. I've had an Ugly 1, Ugly 2, Pretty, Spottey, Crooked Toes, etc.)
