Weve had chickens for years now and this year came with lots of run-ins. We had an under weight chicken so we brought her inside during winter and gave her a special diet. She started to gain weight and we were ready to take her back but a few days before that could happen she did something to two of her toes. They fell off a few days after we noticed. They’re the same toe on both feet. We let her feet heal for a few weeks and now she won’t walk. I’ll find her sitting outside at night i like she couldn’t get back in. Would prosthetic toes sound too crazy? I have to give her special food piles bc when she walks she stumbles over herself, I can post pictures of her feet if that helps

Can you post pictures of the foot? Did you have freezing temps where therc could have been frostbite? Any skin that gets wet can get frostbite in freezing temperatures. Chickens can get along fine with a few missing toes. However, a missing foot makes it hard to get around.

I read about a roo who lost all his toes to frostbite and he wears boots
