I noticed yesterday that my almost 2 year old white Wyandotte was laying down more than usual and less active when she was up and about. She was free ranging with everyone else just more slowly. Her poop was also runny and yellowish, and when I checked her crop at the end of the day there was food in it. She went to bed like normal and when I went out at 5 this morning to check if her crop had emptied and help it empty in case it was impacted, she was already dead. Does impacted crop usually cause death that quickly or was it something else? She seemed normal the day before, so it happened quite fast.

She could have had some sort of reproductive issue that caused her decline quickly. A wyandotte hen of mine was fine one day (maybe a bit more lethargic) then dead the next as well. Her issue was due to an egg breaking inside of her. However I am unsure what your girl may have died from. @azygous @Eggcessive
Ah ok that's possible. It's always sad when they decline and ultimately die so quickly, giving us very little time to diagnose and possibly prevent their demise. I always feel I should've noticed sooner and done something more to help. Thank you for your response, it makes me feel a bit better knowing others have had similar experiences although not good ones 🖤
