Hey y’all! New to chickens here I could use your help! This chicken is less than a year old and around lunch time I noticed she was standing still head down eyes closed tail slightly pointed down, looks like she is experiencing some type of discomfort. Because of the poop (pictured) I thought it was possible coccidiosis and put a gallon of water in w corrid, upon further research I’m now unsure if this is that or possibly a bound egg?? And maybe the poop isn’t poop discharge but egg yolk and poop? Any advice or tips I would truly appreciate, thank you!

that does look strange. i had a chicken who did exactly the same but sadly passed away and her comb started to go purple.
has she layed her first egg yet? is there any swelling in her vent?

i have done some digging and it may be possible that she has egg yolk peritonitis which is where an egg has effectively broken inside of her or not developed properly. i dont know much about this. i hope she is ok!:)

Thank you so much! I will read more into that. I bought her and three other leghorns at the same time and I get about 1-2 eggs a day right now starting just a week ago, so I’m unsure which one of the four is laying, this one is the largest in size so I suspect her! Also, we have had a soft shell in the nesting box but I assumed since they were just starting out it may have been their bodies adjusting, but now I’m not so sure!

I’ll update you on the swollen vent, I am going to round her up and give her an epsom bath to possibly help. I’ll check the vent! From the outside it looks okay.
