Ok. The first three is one chick and the second four sets is the other one. I’m afraid they are both roostersMine seem to have well developed combs and waddles at this age. I usually wing sex them too. Long wings=female, Short wings=male. My last hatch was the opposite though. Can you post a picture of yours?
Couple of months later,Pretty sure my Nico is a black maran of sorts, and unfortunately even more sure it’s a boy!View attachment 1495472
Wow nico is beautifulCouple of months later,
I’ll tell him! I’ll try to get a better picture tomorrow, but anyone know what temperament FBCM’s usually have? He was skitish and a bit of a wimp from the day i got him (3 days old). He’s trying to copy my older rooster by dancing, but only can manage a little stamp.Wow nico is beautiful
Do you think you could post a pick of your hen and check out my recent thread please? I currently have a FBCM and am stummped as to whether it is a pullet or cockerel.I hatched a French Black Copper Marans baby under a broody mama this past spring. The wives tale where you hold it on its back and if it flips over, it's a roo said it was a roo. He was huge, held his body more upright like our other FBCM roo, and we were convinced. No one could have convinced me this was a hen until He started laying eggs!It is still hard to call her a her and though she is laying nicely she is still a bit bigger than the other hens. I was so thankful it was not a roo as we had to re-home our last roo due to the two of them trying to kill each other. With the big combs and wattles on male and female this is a hard breed to figure out young!
This was my boy at around 5 days old, he was very obvious. Absolutely huge chick, around 10cm tallDo you think you could post a pick of your hen and check out my recent thread please? I currently have a FBCM and am stummped as to whether it is a pullet or cockerel.
Obviously this is bad to do, as it could damage the chickens lungsI hatched a French Black Copper Marans baby under a broody mama this past spring.
