The pollution is pretty bad in Beijing, but not too much from car waste anymore. I believe sandstorm is a big reason.

The car restriction is also for limiting the traffic. The traffic in Beijing is pretty bad at all times.

On the same topic, it is near impossible to get your car registered in Beijing. Beijing government only wants to issue a very limited new car registrations every so often so you have to enter a lottery to get a car registration privilege. My friend has entered a car registration lottery for 15+ years and she hasn't gotten one.

Your car cannot be on the road in Beijing.

In Beijing you win the car registration lottery first, then you have half a year to buy your car and get it registered.

Me and my parents flew to Lijiang, a super touristy city in Yunnan province.

Yunnan is in southwest of China, bordering at least Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos. It is a very beautiful province, rich in agriculture, tourism, ethnic diversity, and drug dealing... In recent years, it's also producing lots of coffee.

Yes. I should have mentioned their puer tea. According to some Chinese medicine doctor, only pu'er tea is good for your health. Other tea is either bad or just whatever

A 3 hour flight in the early morning got us to Lijiang around noon.

This is a lovely hotel room.

There are two main heritage sites in the city of Lijiang. We first arrived at the less touristy one, called Shuhe old Town.

There are lots of coffee/tea shops, restaurants, art galleries, boutique stores everywhere.

This is a nice furniture and decoration store.

Lovely, and it looks like it would stay cool in summer.
Is this architecture from a specific period or was it built throughout centuries?
Do people still live in these two sites or is kept as cultural heritage only ?
