Hi everyone,

I have been washing out the eggs shells and removing the membrane for our chickens like I read on here we should do. My question is why does the membrane have to be removed? Rather tedious sometimes!

I've never heard of removing the membrane. I've been feeding shells for years and all I do is let them dry, crush them into bite size pieces and serve.

I've never heard of removing the membrane. Trust me, they'll eat it. I don't even dry mine or crush them, I just save the cracked shells with all the other kitchen scraps and throw them in the run every night.

Thanks loads! Removing the membrane has been a chore! I think we will still wash, and crush them but sure won't worry about membrane any more!
