Duck with no webbing on feet???

Someone could have cut it off because she had severe ammonia burns and there were flaps of webbing hanging. It may not have necessarily been done for cruel reasons.

Thats a good point
Possibly but wouldn't they just have taken her to a vet? Would she have been released back?

I personally wouldn't bring a duck to the vet, So I'm sure there's plenty of people that would resort to what they could do on their own.

Ah I see, that's fair enough. Treating from home is the ideal for so many reasons

I just think a passerby may have gone for that over doing it themselves- some vets here won't charge for wildlife anyway, depending on species and location.
I'm not sure that many people would have been able to catch her, and do that to her, even if they were trying to help

I haven't heard of ammonia burn before reading this thread. Could someone please explain more about it. I'm assuming it is caused by the feet being in filthy conditions.

Wet feces-covered bedding will cause ammonia burns to the ducklings standing on it if not changed often.

Really hope not... but then again, someone in my town just recently drowned 5 kittens so who knows
