i have a smaller backyard and 3 6 week old chicks. i put together an old coop from a friends and built their run around it. they have perches, two waters, dust bath, grit, lots of treats, and food. i’m worried it’s too small and i feel guilty. i don’t have the space or money to give them a bigger space. will they be okay? i am not getting anymore btw. i love them so much and i want them to be happy.

we don’t really have predators i live in a gated community. i don’t know what that door is it has never been opened. and we have talk bamboo so that nothing climbs over as well as trees that block animals.
I don't have a predator proof run either but that's the risk I'm taking. I'm mostly excluding raccoons and birds of prey, and using my dogs to chase off coyotes and bobcats.

Best case scenario nothing gets into your run. Some folks have very good luck with just chicken wire. Worst case you discover there's pests or predators that you didn't know about living in your area and then have to beef up security after the fact. A gated community is only good for inconveniencing people, animals can't read the signs.

I would think that is enough room for 3 chickens. Is free ranging an option maybe evenings and weekends or whenever you are able to be out with them?
kind of lol. i can do it when i’m with them but i worry they would hop the fence leading to the rest of the backyard and then my dogs would go after them if i’m not there.

Space should be OK for 3 birds.

Chicken wire is not predator proof tho.

What is that small door wit the slide latch in the side of the building?
we don’t have predators in my town other than other birds. the side door is how i get in if that’s what ur talking about thank you!
