can chickens cause human diease. my grandma told me that an old friend almost died from the chickens. is there any ways to prevent us from getting sick??

Possibly from the dust in the air (dust being chicken poop and such) from cleaning the coop . Too much dust of any kind can wreak havoc on your lungs . It's kinda like ( sorry I don't know how to spell it ) Hanta virus from mouse terds .

The first thing that comes to my mind is Histoplasmosis. It's a fungus that can infect the lungs. Comes from bird(any birds) or bat droppings.

Wear a dust mask when you clean the coop.
