Can I use a reptile heat bulb for my duck brooder? Recommendations please!!

x2! I tried the black reptile bulbs last year and like them better than my Brinsea brooder plate. Far far better than the old red bulbs.
Hi you! Thanks for commenting on this thread! Yes, I’m trying to get a reptile bulb that only transmits heat and no light. What’s the exact name of the one you used? There’s different kinds for reptiles, some are only for daytime use, others are only for night... etc.

I used a ceramic infrared reptile heater for my runners it worked great and they don't emit and light just lovely lovely warmth - DO make sure if you use one of these that the fixture the bulb screws into is a ceramic socket made for heat lights.
Perfect!!! Thanks so much! They’ll be okay using this as their heat source at 1 week old right? They’re 1 week and 1 day old today!

:)
I got a few different wattages of these from Amazon, not sure of their brand, but if you search for ceramic reptile heat bulb you should find plenty of choices. They also sell them with clamp-on bases, the one I ordered has an on/off switch on the cord and a flexible neck.

Wow I love that!!! Okay I’ll look right now and see if I can find something similar! Thankyou!

Check the prices and wattages. I believe I got 75w and 100w which put out plenty of heat for a small brooder. I’m thinking I paid less than $15 for 2 bulbs and the clamp!
I checked amazon and the clamp is 19$ alone (CAD currency) and two bulbs 100W is 15$CAD. That’s if I want it to arrive today with the amazon prime.

What watt do you use?
I have 3 Welsh Harlequin ducklings coming next week
