Bloody egg

I have 5 laying ducks, 1 Khaki Campell & 4 Golden 300 Hybrids; all female. I also have 5 juvenile ducks, 1/2 Khaki & 1/2 Golden (not sure how much of this is relevant). Anyway, I always collect my eggs every morning. Occasionally, I realized I've missed one, but only by a day or 2. The temps here have been hovering around freezing, so no biggie. I'm in the process of making a cake, cracked my eggs in a separate bowl & out comes one that looks Really Bloody & appears to have an umbilical cord attached! I threw it out, but there is some risidual blood in my mix. Is this ok? I've seen a little blood before, which is no biggie, but this is gross. Also, is it possible that one of my juvenile ducks (around 3 months old) fertilized it? It's too early to tell if anyone of them are male.

I am not a hatcher - it doesn't quite look like a developing egg to me, though.

Wondering if someone had a blood clot in her oviduct. How many drakes?

@Amiga, I have one drake, but he is only about 3 months now. I cannot imagine he would already be mature enough to fertilize. But, then again, I could be wrong. And it could be a blood clot; I hadn't thought of that.

@Amiga, as far as I know they are going about their normal business. They are free range & I usually do not observe them during the day; only in the early morning when egg collecting & late evening when I put them up. My main concern is that I recently started selling them & I would hate it if I have been selling bloody eggs. May be I should start candeling them...

You might start candling - that would probably let you see if there were unanticipated blobs in there.

And keep an eye out for anyone who seems lethargic.
