14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Queenie hatched another one today. Sadly, one of the black ones, got out of the nest and chilled(?) this morning. It was in the kennel, but out of the nest area, and was not cold or stiff when I found it. I hate losing a chick.
We are back to 6 again, with two eggs left.

Had a peek at the babies when I went out to close up the main coop. They have already found the food and water. Some are under the plate, some are under the lamp. All 22 *do* fit under the plate at the moment (it's the big Producer's Pride plate), but with such a big batch I'll have to keep a close eye on them as they grow.

Originally set 14 coturnix eggs on the 25th; I had 1 quitter and 8 duds. I expected the remaining five eggs to hatch on the 12th, but was surprised this evening by two early hatchers!! Welcome to the world little Pasca and Easter!
Two of their (hopefully) sisters have pipped as well, so with any luck everyone should have hatched by tomorrow evening
