14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

I have some definite peeping. Mama is sitting well, and I won't disturb her,so I'm not sure how many have hatched.

Congratulations to everyone who has hatchlings. I've been too busy to follow along the last few days.

I'm going to put mine into lockdown today for Sunday hatching.

Update on all the little ducklings doing well making a mess like ducklings do

Set 22 barnyard mix chicken eggs on March 18th. They are primarily Australorp/Easter Egger and Crested Cream Legbar. Candled again yesterday and only had to pull one. Also set 22 Welsh Harlequin duck eggs on the same day, but they will take another week.

Still have to get the brooder ready to go and get some starter feed! Yipes!

I have two more pips, and I saw another one do a really big wiggle, so I hope that means an internal pip.

I’ve got an incubator full of eggs that are twitching and slightly moving. Is that normal at 16 days?

It is a bit early. Is it possible that the days are off?

I don’t think so. It’s kind of confusing because I set the eggs on a Monday night around midnight. So I count Tuesday night as day one. So technically Tuesday night at midnight should be 21 days. I was planning on setting them up for lockdown on either Saturday or Sunday. I’ll candle them and mark air pockets and remove the turner and place a silicone mat in the incubator.

Woke up this morning to 3 cuties. One left but I'm pretty sure it's a quitter.
