I've added you to the spreadsheet. Please let @muddy75 know how many eggs you set that will hatch between 4/1 & 4/16.I just found out that we can still join even if our eggs will be hatching a few days after Easter, is that correct? If so I will join up! I have some Swedish Flower eggs under a broody hen that should be hatching on the 14th.
Egg #’s 1, 2 look good to me…#’s 3 and 6 are no bueno and #’s 4, 5 look for earlier development.Trying to decide what to do… I have a broody bantam and an incubator. I incubated 8 eggs for 7 days, candled, 6 fertile. Put 4 under the broody, left 2 in incubator….
Candles on day 12. I am not confident of what I am seeing when candling. Any help?
I don’t think my broody is keeping the eggs warm enough. Other opinions?
Egg 1 in incubator - large shadow, veins, I think it’s okay

Egg 2 in incubator - large shadow, veins, I think it’s okay

Egg 3 under broody- large shadow but it looks different and no veins. I think it’s dead

Egg 4 under broody - small shadow, veins - maybe it’s developed slow? Or maybe dead??

Egg 5 under broody - small shadow and veins but I think it looks funny. Dying? Slow?

Any thoughts or advice?

Keep an eye on #4 tho cause idk…It still looks kinda iffy.
I agree that it might be better to put the broody hens eggs in the incubator just in case and @ronott1 has some helpful tips about staggered hatches:Thanks. This is close to what I was thinking. I will repeat candling in a couple days.
I don't think the broody is able to keep the eggs warm enough in our cooler weather. I think I will put all the eggs in the incubator and give her some fake eggs to sit on, and then give her the chicks after they hatch.
I will have to figure out a plan for the extended hatch time though, hmm... Perhaps give the first eggs to her at lockdown?? Will have to think about it.
Wait until you see the first pip and then increase humidity and set the eggs for hatching.
When the first batch is through hatching, you can lower the humidity until the next batch is ready to hatch.
While not ideal, it works.
Nope, 4/18 I believe.@SundownAviaries, do you have any eggs that are do to hatch between 4/1 & 4/16?
