I'm setting nine emu eggs today

I hope they hatch well for you!

I don't know if I'm more jealous that y'all are setting eggs already or grateful that when I set eggs from my birds I don't have to wait nearly as long for them to hatch.

Mostly, though, I just want my girls to get laying so I can start hatching, whether for the EHAL or not!!

I hope so too!

My hens are starting up now at the hours of sunlight here.

My mixed flock is picking up laying finally, but the birds I actually want to hatch from, my silkied Cochins, are holding out on me! Well, two of the pullets are laying, but they're currently not penned with the rooster I want to breed them to, unfortunately. But at this point I'm tempted to set those eggs anyway. It's only because it's been unseasonably mild here, so it feels like spring and I'm ready to have a brooder full of babies!

I'd like to join!! It will be my first time hatching but I think I've already "hatched" a plan. I'm hoping to have a broody hen to get the job done and hatch naturally. Wish me luck! I hope to have some adorable Easter photos with our newest feather babies.

14th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along​

It's that time again! Every year, many members from all over the world come together to set eggs to hatch on the exact same day, April 8th, 2023 - the day BEFORE Easter. As a group last year, we had 2623 eggs set for hatching! If you are new to hatching, this is a great way to get a lot of help, tips, and advice. Join in the fun for the largest BYC Hatch-Along of the year!

Yeah, my living room has been a constant rotation of various ages and quarantines! I have Rubbermaid brooders, Guinea pig cage brooders, soft sided dog pen grow outs…it’s chaos!

Sounds like my home office!! Hahah!
