I still have one lone CL chick under the broody and one egg that has pipped a day or 2 ago, progressed a small bit but hasn't started zipping last I looked earlier today. Im trying not to interfere and let mama do her job. She had the egg tucked up under her breast feathers with the pip hole...
I feel it is quite normal to not see much of any movement that close to hatch day. They are very big filling the egg and not having much room to squirm, they will make movements when they pip and zip then often take long rests
My broody has 2 remaining eggs under her, they are due to hatch today. I heard peeping under her this morning. Im not sure if both eggs will hatch but here is hoping
My broody got off her nest today so I took the opportunity to candle while she stretched her legs. I placed 6 under her found 9 lol. I removed the newest 3 so back to 6. Four are CLxSilkie eggs that were infertile (she is a new laying pullet so I took my chances) and I pulled them from the nest...
The things we do to avoid shipping on our precious eggs huh!?
Next weekend I am driving 2hours one way on my end to meet a woman who is also driving 1.5hours on her end (so nice of her) to meet up so I can purchase some nice quality standard Barred Plymouth Rocks :) So excited!!!
Usually DH...
I may be joining this hatch a long. I had no plans to set more eggs after the Easter Hatch a long, but my Cochin has other plans and is firmly sitting in her nest growling lol. She seems ready so I might slip chicken eggs under her on the 14th. I will keep you all posted.
