Everything is going well. My girls have been struggling with some skin issues and retaining feathers. I've been treating them with mite spray so hopefully that will help. I've been very busy and recently found out I am pregnant so my husband has been doing a lot of the chicken chores in my place!
My only concern is that once we get our fence up in the next couple weeks, we would like to let our chickens out into the yard while we are out there. Is that possible to do with cats?
Hello,
We have been having problems with rats in our neighborhood. Today I noticed a rat hole in the coop. We tried to prevent this by putting wire material down on the ground a few inches but they dug under that as well. Does anyone have any ideas to stop the rats or fill the hole?
Thank you.
I don't really have a door we could put mesh in. I suppose I could get my fiancee to fix something up. He's pretty handy. He built the whole coop himself!! But the space between the roof and walls is all mesh all away around the coop.
I could probably do a fan somehow the coop is near the garage window. We do have a shade cover over the coop and run but it's still going to be upper 80s-90s the next week or so. My chickens get hot and start painting very easily.
Do you think I could lock them up in the coop after the heat...

Yes I've been giving them treats since they were itty bitty. They know when momma is coming!! They know my voice and they love being pet and held. I call them my "chickie babies" lol.
My chicks are about 7 weeks old. They are a pearl star leghorn breed. They seem to get hot very easily even when they were very young. It was around 90 today in Northern Ohio and they were all panting and dropping their wings. They have shade and I bought them a 2.5 gallon waterer and filled it...
Yes I guess they aren't leghorns exactly. Just their name. From what info I've gathered. They are super sweet and adorable. They love being pet and held.
Hello!!
My name is Natalie and my fiance and I got 6 Pearl Star leghorn chicks from Tractor supply about 7 weeks ago. They are doing really good. We just finished up their coop and run the other day. I've been finding myself googling questions every so often and it always takes me to this...
