Sorry my reply was too late but it might help if you face the same problem again. I've had several that I've had to treat myself. Sorry you lost your chicken, that sucks. :(

@Kiki
I didn't intentionally sit Button eggs, but I got back from a 3+ week vacation yesterday & found a pen full of Button eggs and a Broody Button. This morning 8 hatched, surprise!!!
Got 6 eggs yesterday, got 2 hens gone broody again. I sorted through 20+ button eggs in their pen, put 11 back in after candling and now have 9 babies in with the 4 tiny adults. They've been busy while I was gone on Vacation.
Sorry this reply is so late, I've been on Vacation the last 3+ weeks. I got back yesterday and immediately checked on my girls (hens, roo, guinea, quailies) & found a 6 ft long snake with a belly full of chicks/chickens! I "twenty-gauged" him in two. I HATE snakes!
He's in love with me and a couple of the chickens he wants to get at. He still sits on my lap and will "cheep" like a little poult, it is so funny. He's so sweet and loves everybody except wild birds, bunnies, and squirrels.
Maybe a generic photo but no way one in a yoga pose!
That's what I was thinking! Lol!
My favorite "yoga" pants are actually my favorite everyday-allday pants.
In this photo Jake is trying to keep Penny out of my lap, he's jealous.
I've decided to stay away from black cockerels, since black is such a dominant trait, all my chicks were hatching out black regardless of the color of my hens.
