They're basically ignoring him. No one is going after him at all. He's just extremely passive. I've been trying the scratch thing. I'll just keep at it. Thanks.
Anyone have advice on encouraging a rooster to acclimate to the flock? The two pullets are integrating well, but he's so shy. He just hides ALL the time. I feel terrible for him.
Mine is really just a raised, enclosed roost with a laying box attached. It's fully enclosed in a large, secure run. I'll start moving them up tonight.
Ok, the three newbies have been in the run since Saturday. They're choosing to sleep together in the dog kennel though. Should I start relocating them each night to the coop? Should I remove the kennel? I haven't seen any agression from the older birds, but the newbies aren't mixing/mingling at all.
First day went well. *knock on wood*. I was going to move the littles to the coop tonight as I did last night, but the rooster and the pullets are happily ensconced in a kennel, so I'm gonna let them bond.
If anyone has 2 pullets/hens to spare (coop ready), I NEED them. Happy to pay. Happy to rehome older girls. I rescued a bantum rooster and my girls are too focused on him as an interloper. I need a couple more new birds to spread out the "newness".
