What you need to know before you get your parrot.

I did not know but each has its own type. I like quakers the little clowns! They can say a hundred words! Like the African Gray. Thank you not too many research this before buying.
Excellent article!!! Thanks for sharing your experience
A very in-depth and great article and would recommend everyone even if you are not wanting a pet parrot to read.

Very helpful article for those looking into getting a parrot
Excellent article on owning Parrots! This is a must-read if you think you want a parrot.

The part about the Cockatoos was spot-on. Cockatoos are the neediest of all parrots, and if you're not prepared to be with them pretty much 24/7, then don't get one. Also, if you work outside of the home for 8 hours or more each day, and you live alone, then a parrot is probably not for you either (of course, there are always exceptions).

One important point too: If you own a parrot that lives in-doors, then you may need to quit using non-stick teflon cookware. Non-stick Teflon Cookware, when heated up to a certain temperature, can release fumes that can be deadly to parrots (and other birds). I know some people will insist that their parrot doesn't mind the Teflon, but I know other people who have lost their birds due to cooking with teflon while the bird was in the kitchen.

Well-done article!!
