I need to mow my yard, but it's so uneven that a lawn mower would have a very difficult time. I don't own a lawn mower or a weed whacker, but I think I need to get one soon. I don't want a string weed eater because the plant life in my yard will eat it rather than the other way around.

Any recommendations?

I like my cub cadet mowers and I use a Ryobi one + weed eater. It comes with string and blade attachment

I have a ten year old Craftsman walk behind that I paid $300 for. Have another three years old that I paid $350 for. I do nothing to them except run them dry every autumn and add fresh gasoline each spring. I am going to bronze 'The Racehorse' when he dies. The younger is dying physically.
