Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Hi! My life exploded and my chickens are my “safe place” and therapy. My big boy, hei-hei, who has always been my sweetheart, decided that I may be hurting one of his hens, Rachel, and came at me for the first time ever. Kind of scary and I got a little (a lot!) bruised in a few places but he seems good again now. My dumped rooster, Bumble, is still angry and not too sweet. My favorite rooster, Limu, ripped a spur off and I thought he was going to bleed to death but I bandaged him up and put him in a big dog cage in his run with his friends and he seems fine now too. Yay! The girls are laying well and everyone else, chicken-wise is great! our 2 kittens are now beautiful. They just turned 7 months on April 1. All the lizards are also good and growing. The pups just turned 2 and our older ladies are doing well. :) Thanks for checking in! I hope everyone else is doing well!!! :)

Currently growing 8 French Black Copper Maran chicks. Hatched 14 chicks 5 weeks ago, trying to decide which of the 14 i'm going to give away. Trying to figure out male of female of these 14, building safe containers to put in current run so the old hens will get to know the little one when I put them in the run. Raising chicks is work! But I love it. Here are a couple pictures of 2 of the chicks I hatched, anyone care to guess, Pullet or Cockerel? I'm not sure at this point. 37 days old, so a little over 5 weeks old.

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Hi BYC 🙂
We have grown from 16 hens, 2 roosters and 5 ducks to 26 hens, 2 roosters and 5 ducks, and expecting 3 hens and 3 more ducks. And our eggs basket now have vibrant colours including white, blue, turquoise and speckled. Still want to find olive and dark red layers. Naughty hens made a hole into allotment fence another day and there was carnage :-( Peas, tatties, brassicas suffered and attack and damage.
