Fast, easy, temporary and reusable. Thanks for documenting this build.

We did the same except for using a tall bird cage laid down and attached for more room. Elevated with hay under and inside. They seem to like it lol

Good plan for a temporary shelter. Uses a dog crate and found/leftover materials. Comes with a disclaimer that it is not predator-proof but is designed to be inside another fence.
Whatever the reason, be it a sick bird, a surprise broody or (guilty as charged) a moment of weakness at the feed store chick bins, we someimes need fast, cheap housing ... yesterday! We've all been there and we usually manage, but this poster shows a quick, easy and yes, inexpensive, way to convert a dog kennel to a small, temporary coop. I learned, years ago, never to pass up a good dog crate at a yard sale. You never know when one of those feed store chicks is going to wink at you ... and you need to be ready!
