why would the OE sing the egg song for the other hen?

I heard the egg song, went to check it out. Lucky Clucky proudly singing her song! Opened egg box, uh... sorry Henny Penny. I didn't know you were in there. she moves over a box and there are no eggs in either side. Come back 20 min later, and yep Henny Penny laid me a cute little pink egg.

why would the other chicken sing when it wasn't even her egg?

Unless of course she's a proud auntie. LOL

Ha... you should hear my roosters sing the egg song!

I get a whole symphony of ladies sometimes. I think it's fairly common.

Yes it's common for other hens nearby to join in or even sound the egg call for them, and a rooster will often respond. It can turn into quite a racket in fact, but the noise is all part of the fun

OH OK. my OE was crowing the other day but is clearly a hen. she was singing egg song like she was Adele!
