On this thread tell me what plants make either good treats, herbal medicine, or are high in beneficial vitamins. (and everything in between!) And don't forget to tell me your experience with giving these greens to your hens! šŸ˜ ā¤ļø

I continually plant tender forbs like clover, alfalfa, forage type turnips, radishes, etc. Buckwheat in summer and peas in winter.
When I think of something else I forgot, I'll come back to add.

All sound like good forbs! Can chickens have them?

I also make sure there's plenty of clover, plantain, comfrey, lambs quarters, and generally a nice variety of plants growing in the chicken yard. They love variety!
These are some medicinals I use to great effect for both prevention and curative reasons:
Echinacea seed
Comfrey leaf
elderberries
lemon balm
calendula flower
plantain leaf
catnip buds

the modality of administration varies with plant as well as with what's being treated. For detailed advice contact me directly.
