The doors are leaning off to the right side. Originally, they were sliding doors, which didn't slide all that well.

Because the doors were built by the ID10T who built the house, the back sides aren't the same. So DH was limited with where he could put the hinges. The doors are heavy, so the hinges need a decent bit of wood to mount to. The vertical show pieces are cedar, and split easily. I call the uneven hinges "character." Hey, it's better than what ID10T did on the house he built next door.

Wow, I didn't know I had so much rice and oatmeal! The buckets are for bags of dried beans, to keep them corralled if a bag splits. Only dried good here, as it might get cold enough to freeze. The wall is external, and we don't keep this room very warm.

Nice! I have pantry envy now.

Given that:
Neither Cream legbars or Welsummer are known to be particularly aggressive.
I have older girls that will be able to help train him.
I'm pretty hands off in chicken keeping to begin with.
I'm really hoping he doesn't turn into a butt head.
I really want another Brahma but the ground here isn't kind to feathered feet. :/
