What is this bubble on her nostril? Respiratory problem?

Hello all, I have an eight year old bantam hen, who hasn't had previous health conerns, but what do you think this bubble is on her nostril? It's been here for about a year, getting slightly bigger.

Do you think it's respiratory? She seems fine otherwise, and it doesn't seem to bother her.

Should I bring her to a vet?
Thank you!

Is there an opening to her nostril next to the cyst that she is breathing out of? It looks like a fluid filled cyst, but may contain pus or solid material. How does it feel—firm or squishy? Peck wounds can sometimes become abscessed and chicken may form cysts or tumors. Does it seem to be growing in size?

Wow thanks for your reply!! It is next to the nostril, not coming out of it. It feels firm, not squishy. And has been growing in size over the year. What do you think? Xx

It sounds like a hard cyst. You could either leave it alone and watch it, or you could sterilize a needle or sharp knife and the skin, and lance it. Then try to squeeze out any hardened pus in side. If there is nothing in there, clean it and put some antibiotic ointment or iodine on it. Get another person to help you. Wrapping her in a towel like a burrito, but making sure that she can breathe is how to do it. Or see a vet. Being hard, it may just contain tissue and could bleed a little. Let us know how you handle it.
