Yes I've seen an increase. We first had some in 2012 and between traps and my german shepherd they were eliminated.

We had a couple last year and the dog took care of the. This year it's been a huge mess. Athena is happy to kill them but it seems more move in every day. She gets at least one every night in our hunt.

Hey Western Washington people, has anyone noticed a massive increased in Rats the last year or so? 

We keep poison out all the time so that helps get rid of any rats that attempt to move in but we switched from pellets to a bar (inside a black plastic holder) since we can't find the pellets anymore and the poison has not disappeared. I noticed signs of a rat last week and saw it run out when I drowned out its tunnel so I picked up a different poison bar to try that I was told works better than the one the rat does not seem to have touched. Usually when I see signs of a rat I check my poison and find it is gone so we put out more and that takes care of the problem.

This is the first time I have seen a rat when there is poison available for it to eat. I don't think anything has even touched the poison bar in the safety plastic holder so it seems to be a complete waste of money. I am not sure if it is the bar itself or the holder that requires the rat to enter to access the poison but something seems to keep it from being effective. Itis possible that the rat is smart enough to leave it alone but hopefully this other poison bar works better.

We can't put the poison pellets we used to use where the feed is but the rats have always found them so they must have an attractant while this bar is right next to the feed since the holder is bird proof and they have not touched it. We just put out the new poison today so I will keep checking for signs of life.
