Someone told me black oil sunflower seeds are a good treat...any thoughts? Do they eat shell and all?

They eat the shells and all. Keep all treats to a very low roar. It's easy for it to get out of hand.
If you really like tossing them treats, mix in the goodies with chick starter and toss that out. They don't care. They will still enjoy scratching up the starter crumbles especially if you feed pellets.
