Sounds funny! - But, i am afraid of heights too and have learned to overcome that fear.
Looking down 100 meters (~300') still frightens me but looking down 10,000 meter (30,000') does not. I assume my brain just cannot process the image in the correct way, so it doesn't realize that i am that far away from the ground. It is more like looking at a model of the world not the real deal.

Well obviously standing on a 300' building looking down is enough to make a stomach do flips but 30,000' in the air contained in a tin can is MUCH safer

Because really... can you even see the ground? If you can't see it, it must not be there.

Normally when I fly, I can see the ground or reasonable facsimile of it.

Yes, but from a certain height it does no longer look like a "ground", so it won't scare me anymore.

Dear Quack-Shaker's! Has anybody an idea how i can get my Fall Ducks out of the pond?
They all went in there this afternoon, the old ducks came home when it got dark, the young ones just show me their middle toe,,,
