This is the bamboo with wide stems. You can see it on the far side of the river. View attachment 3131181
That might be river cane, giant cane, canebreak bamboo, native to the eastern US and west to Oklahoma and Texas.
I'm getting into traditional archery. Making a oak self bow and reading a lot of archers prefer homemade river cane arrows. I was thinking dang I wish the stuff grew around here, never noticed it before. Now that I'm looking I'm noticing it growing lots of places here, including tons of it on the other side of the fence where I park at work Lol.
