Hello, we purchased 6 Silver Laced chicks from rural king this last Sunday (1 week ago today). I’m assuming they’re no more than 2 weeks old. About 2 days ago I noticed 1 chicks leg was “off”. Balance was off, and it seems to be bending the opposite way but not at the knee, it seems like the entire leg. She peeps a lot more than the others, but otherwise has normal behavior. Her breathing pattern did seem slightly heavier than the others this evening which was new. Every other chick is totally normal. She picks, pecks, runs, eats and drinks and gets excited when she sees something new she thinks is food in the brooder. But her right leg is very very wobbly and then will eventually give out at what seems to be the top of her leg. I don’t know how injury could occur in the brooder they are in, and they are on pine shavings and there is nothing to get stuck on. I gave her some rooster booster liquid b-12 with a syringe and some rooster booster vitamin mix in some water. Could this be injury or should I be concerned about disease? Any help for either is appreciated

Do you have photos?

Feel the tendon, is it out of place?
Any swelling of the joint?

Hope these photos help, it’s hard to get a good one. It’s like her right leg goes all the way forward

You would want to give human vitamin B complex instead of B12 to your chick. That contains all B vitamins including riboflavin (B2.) crush 1/4 tablet into a little water and feed it to her with a dropper or syringe. Chick leg problems are sometimes hard to treat. Use some antiseptic on the red joint if it gets a sore. If they can get around well enough to get enough to eat and drink, sometimes they will survive. But many chicks are put down due to slipped tendons or twisted legs. Here is a good article about checking for slipped tendon, and how to get it back in place:
