Hi! We are brand new to chicken farming and have found it fascinating. Although full of ups and downs ( chicken losses and new ones too love); we are looking forward to this adventure. We are in love with everything chicken….and rabbit of course.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We got chickens this spring 2022.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 6 full size chickens and two bantams.
(3) What breeds do you have? 1 black silver Birchin Marans rooster; 1 black silver Birchin Marans hen; 2 cream crested Marans hens; 1 white legbar Marans; 1 buff Ordington…2 bantams and I’m completely at a loss as to what they are but they’re just getting so cute!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love their personalities and I’m very interested in the genetics and breeding of chicks both for specific color traits and egg colors as well.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? gardening, sewing, canning, cooking, painting, beading, drawing, natural medicine
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We live in south east Montana. We have plenty of property here. Looking forward to more animals. Building our little homestead and enjoying every second.

. I come here often to read information. I’ve found a lot of great community help here.
