I have three Polish chicks all aged exactly five weeks. Their behaviour and sizes are so similar, there are no clues to gender. Anyone have any idea or is it too soon to tell?

Photos 3&4 = CHICK TWO (Soufflé, who has five toes so isn't pure Polish)

Polish are difficult to sex early as are silkies. Generally the females have a rounded , full crest and the males have wild rock star crests. However by 4-5 mos. these crests could change and sprout wild streamers which would indicate males. Wait and see, or post new photos when they are 4-5 mos. of age.

4-5 months, wow, that's a long time to have to wait to be sure! I had a couple of silkie chicks last year though and was pretty sure one was male by 8 weeks, so fingers crossed these don't keep me guessing too long. I will post updated pics in a few weeks. :)

UPDATE: I know it's probably too soon but the three chicks are now six and a half weeks old and their crests are more developed.
They all show no sign of wattle or comb development and their behaviour is very similar.

Any new thoughts on gender?

They are in the same order as before.

Following this post because I have 3 x 5 week olds and they have no wattles either. I have seen posts with 4 weeks old cockerels having wattles so i was hoping mine were all pullets.. Hoping someone knows what age cockerels usually get wattles! ;) They are adorable by the way :)

It's my understanding that Polish are like Silkies in that sometimes you can't tell the sex for months and sometimes it's obvious from a few weeks! With my silkies I was sure I had a boy from around 8 weeks because of wattle and comb growth but i've heard of other silkies just turning out to be cockerels at eight months!

I'm hoping that by eight weeks there should be some wattle growth on the boys, if I have any. Zero wattle growth at eight weeks = a good chance of girl, according to my optimistic theory. :)
