My little lady has a scab like crusty covering on 1 eye. When soaked and removed, she appears to have little bumps under the covering. I noticed a few more little bumps on her face also. The eye has no pus or discharge. Only very watery when uncovered and opened. Also swollen.
Have been treating her with topical triple antibiotic ointment 2-3 times daily for over a week. I see no changes! It doesn't seem to be an infection.
What are we dealing with?
What do we do to treat?

Oh my, that is significant swelling. Because it's one eye, I'm inclined to think injury but I'm not sure. Any poultry Vets nearby? You may need an eye specific antibiotic (like Neo-Poly-Bac).

Keep her separated from the rest of the flock to prevent them from picking at it.

She is/has been isolated.
I do not believe it is an injury because she has a few other 'bumps' on her face. You should be able to see them if you enlarge the pictures. On back of beak top & one on bottom.

Vet is not an option. $100 emergency visit fee or 1.5-2 month wait.

From what I can see in the photos, it looks like you are dealing with Fowl Pox. Are there any lesions or sore inside her beak too?

Fowl Pox is caused by a virus and will usually resolve on it's own over the course of several weeks. Applying the ointment is ok to help give her some relief, but I would not pick of anymore scabs since this can cause spread.

Keep working on her eating/drinking, hopefully she will soon recover.

Like @Wyorp Rock mentioned, Fowl Pox could be the culprit as well. It was my initial thought, I have just never seen that much swelling with it--but I am no expert on Fowl Pox.

How is she today?

Agreed, Fowl Pox.

Agreed, Fowl Pox.
Sorry, delayed! Things got hectic around here!!
No real changes overall. Crusty scabs over her eye came back a little thinner and lighter colored. Maybe less edema...
No visible lesions in her mouth.
She has had a decreased appetite for weeks but is still eating & drinking enough to not really be concerned.
I guess I'll just keep her isolated, fed & watered and wait it out....hopefully!

Update: All of her lesions and scabs are gone.
BIG PROBLEM with her eyeball. There appears to be a pus pocket attached to her eyeball. Have cleaned & treated it with Vetericyn plus for a week with no visible changes.
Got some Terramycin gel. This a.m. was her first treatment.
Am I at all headed in the right direction? I am so worried that she is going to lose sight in that eye.

Oh gosh. I’m no expert but I think that pus has got to come out! I appreciate it appears to be in/on her eyeball but I think you will have to try and remove it manually if you can. I can’t think she will be able to see from that eye after this but we have a hen who is blind in one eye and she manages really well.

Sorry for you and your hen.
